I love Stone Age. Kingdom of Solomon & Flash Point are becoming fast favorites. 7 Wonders is still growing on me slowly. In 2012 I also finished my re-design of the "X-Men: Under Siege" game originally designed by Richard Borg--it's been really fun enjoying the results of all that work! Alien Frontiers, Amun Re, & Forbidden Island are others I am getting more experience with, recently.
I love Dirk Henn's Shogun, but never seem to get it to the table. Small World (with the expansions) is one I can never get tired of--especially with people who know how to play. I never get enough Puerto Rico, and it seems I've let a lot of time go by since I played either Race for the Galaxy or Eclipse... Obviously these situations will all need to be addressed soon. :)
I'm really enjoying getting to know other L.A. area gamers. I run a game group at the Santa Fe Springs Library (every other Tuesday night) & lots of events at the L.A. Strategicon(s). I've been designing (and playing) games since elementary school.
I can only speak for the Fullerton events which I have attended: It's a good place to meet up with easygoing gamers (who can recommend several other gaming outlets in the area). Marieke is a gem and really sets a hospitable tone in her loft/office space. The folks here are intelligent, patient teachers, and seem to enjoy a wide variety of games: short, long, light, heavy, fun, intense, etc. I look forward to going back whenever I have a free Monday night.
