We are a young garden in LIC, Queens and we are working hard to maintain this vacant lot. Now in our 3rd growing season we are opening up and inviting more folks to participate in this garden experiment.
We had a great turnout at our last workday and would like to keep the ball rolling. There is still plenty of work to be done, land to reclaim and amazing people to work with.
Some tasks for the day will include, planting nut trees, maintaining sifting finished compost, mulching paths, weeding, clearing new planting areas and more!... depending on how many folks come out.
We will be firing up the grill for lunch so feel free to bring something to add to the potluck (may be fun to leave a comment here with what you are bringing).
As always dress appropriately for the work and the weather. Sunscreen and a bottle of water are suggested.
Come for part or all day. If you have never been to our garden please try to come for a farm tour which will take place after lunch (1:30ish). It really helps to only give this tour once so farm managers can direct volunteers and git er' dun.
