maggie and matt were very welcoming and knowledgable. the sunset on the rooftop was fabulous! i was very taken by the cheap 'n cheerful SIPS demo. Would have liked to see more with that. what a great location, nice people and interesting topic.

It was really good to see a different kind of rooftop garden in action as compared to some of the larger, more commercial gardens/farms. I like that this one demonstrated how easy it could be to setup and breakdown, particularly for tenants and with regards to infrastructure.

Very informative! I learned that planters need to be on pallets to spread the weight and the pallets need to be on strips of rubber matting to protect the roof membrane. Shading with remay cloth is necessary for many types of plants. Subirrigated planters are very desirable - reducing the need for watering. The demonstration about growing and harvesting microgreens was perfect - I'm going to start ASAP in my backyard garden. Thanks Maggie and Matt!

Seems like there was a snafu with meetup.com...I suggested this meetup awhile ago and somehow it was converted into an actual meetup event! Still looking forward to seeing this event happen as I am looking to soak up this knowledge from someone with some experience in setting up rooftop gardens (including how they approached or didn't their super/landlord!)
