Do you grow food now or do you want to start growing food?

I had two gardens in Austin that were quite successful. I was able to grow and harvest a variety of green leafy vegetables, carrots, radishes, and beets. I would very much like to start growing my own food in the NYC area. I realize the climate and soil are quite different here in NYC than in ATX and am eager to learn from more experienced NY farmers around me.

What neighborhood in NYC do you farm or want to farm?

I live in the Columbia University area (116th and Amsterdam) and would prefer to farm close to home, but am willing to travel.

Where do you grow food or want to grow food (i.e. community garden, back or front yard, window sill, rooftop farm, etc)?

I would like to grow food in a either a community garden or a roof top garden as well as grow some herbs on my window sill. I am most familiar with raised-bed gardening.

What is the name of your project or farm (if relevant)?

Hi! My name is Teal Stamm. I am a recent transplant from Austin, TX. With a large back and front yard in Austin I was able to build a small garden and grow my own vegetables. I am eager to get my hands dirty again, NYC style.

What Teal S. is saying about this Meetup Group

So glad I stumbled upon this website. It's a great resource for finding workshops, classes, and events focused around bringing people together to learn about urban gardening and farming in the NYC area.
