I do not grow food and I cannot start such an endeavor. My abilities lie in the communication about this food movement, as well as helping others in my area with their growing projects. Ultimately, I would like to create curriculum for food studies in grades kindergarten through grade 12.
I live on the upper west side and it is easiest for me to stay close to home.

I have started a website with a blog and some food articles, and also with cookware product for sale. It is at http://www.cookwarematters.com
My website, with a low-key educational blog and cookware product, is my launch into this issue after years in educational publishing. I am educating myself as I go on the wide reach of food issues--as Mark Bittman says we need to "uninvent this food system... that contributes to climate change, obesity, poisoned land and water, etc." It's too big a topic for me alone, but I can begin some small ways if I can learn from and share with others. So I'm turning to Meetup in my own beginning stages.
My work for the past 3+ decades focuses on editorial work mostly in educational publishing. I have been turning my interests from state standards to the grow-and-buy locally food issue for making good choices for a sustainable planet.
