Subject:  [City-Farming-NYC] help sought with pruning, and other fun permie projects

So, I've got some heavy pruning to do at my home garden-share before these plants come out of dormancy this spring. mostly edibles or nit fixers..

I'm still a tad trigger-shy with the loppers on some of them, unsure just how to train things,
so i thought there might be someone(s) in the community that is well-versed in proper pruning, training, rooting cuttings, possibly grafting that would lend a hand?

I'd like there to be a vested interest for everyone, if there is enough interest this could be a "teach-in" perma-blitz type meetup-event ?
folks can take home some cuttings for rooting, compost/worm-castings,seeds I've saved from last years crops..I'm open to ideas. if interest is low, perhaps we can barter.

the plants (somewhat in order of priority) :
  • Seedless Grape (thompsons and glenora)
  • Hardy Kiwi (male and females)
  • Goji berry
  • Hazelnut / Filbert
  • Blueberries,
  • Manchurian Apricots
  • Crab-apple
  • Wild Cherry,
  • Redbud tree.
  • Butterfly Bush
  • Crape Myrtle
  • Mimosa
  • Japanese quince
  • Lilac
  • beauty-bush
  • rugosa rose,
  • mulberry
  • black walnut
there are others here that could use trims or have cuttings taken.
these are what i think need work or would have the most interest to people.

the past 2 seasons i ran the garden as a cooperative,we invited others to share in the chores and harvest,as well as selling limited/monthly CSA shares and hosting vegan garden potlucks.the response/enthusiasm was high but actual hands-in-dirt turnout was low (except the potluck parties which were a big hit!) .this year I'll still welcome helpers, but i think the garden may be of more benefit to us and community as a "residential demo site" ,with a small nursery/craft sales element, and offering/hosting workshops and such...

soem examples of projects on the list are :

Anyhow, hope that this calls to someone, please share questions and ideas.
we're in Baldwin (Nassau county, Long island) ,it's not real far. just 40 minutes from PENN on the train ,and we're only 2 blocks from the station .
