This is who we are, what we do, and why we need YOU!
The City of Lakes Chorus has been dazzling audiences since 1952. We are an award-winning chorus of approximately 100 voices with a long history of excellence. We've placed 1st in every Regional competition since 1967, and placed as a top 10 finalist in 18 International Competitions since 1971. In order to continue to grow and achieve our goal of achieving Top 5 standings we need YOU! Who are you? A woman, at least 16 years old, who loves to sing, perform, learn, grow, and meet new friends.
Education:Learning the techniques involved with the musical art form of Barbershop feeds our desire to excel. Vocal instruction is integrated into all of our rehearsals. So whether your a new to Barbershop and A Cappella harmony, or have been singing it for years, the tools to succeed are available to everyone. In addition to weekly rehearsals, a few times a year we hire a master in the art of barbershop, to teach us some tricks of the trade.
Performances:Performing at our shows, Regional and International competitions, community events, and Singing Telegrams for Valentine's Day are the ways we share our passion for singing and hope to inspire others to join us.
Competition:In the spring, we participate in the Region 6 chorus competition. Competitions are an excellent opportunity for quartets and choruses to perform for each other as well as receive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the Regional competition, in both quartet and chorus categories, are invited to participate at the International Competition which is held in the fall.
Affiliation:City of Lakes Chorus is a non-profit organization and a chapter ofSweet Adelines International, an organization of approximately 30,000 members worldwide, headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
