  • Dear Mahler fanatics and the like,

    Yes, MTT will be conducting this last of Mahler's symphony, and the greatest and the most tragic of all, which foreshadowed his near death. I am sure you'll feel when you hear it yourself right? Please read details below:

    By 1909, when the anguished Mahler penned his Ninth Symphony, he had tragically lost his four-year-old daughter and learned of the heart ailment that would contribute to his own death two years later. The last symphony he completed, the Ninth, is a defiant affirmation of life as well as a poignant acceptance of mortality, which secured Mahler’s immortality. It was with this music that Maestro Tilson Thomas began his storied SFS career in 1974.

    BTW- I figured out why I got the Sunday tickets originally, on Fri there's a free performance of Trio con Brio @ SFSU. They are fantastic, from Denmark, and I've heard them both in Europe and in the Twin Cities, MN.

      Not sure how better I can explain... except the fact there's cost incurred in organizing the meetup'all the time. If you are not happy, you can certainly opt out. Otherwise, come & see the meetups we organize. Then let me know what you think of it, ok? Thanks!:)

    Malena, if you have read the meetup posting carefully it explains $3 event fee has nothing to do with your tix. You still need to get your own tix. That's why I provided tix link separately.
