SF Symphony's Baroque Delights: Brandenburg Concertos No 2, 3, and 6

Hi there,

SF Symphony and the guest conductor Jane Glover the world-famous Baroque master will be performing JS Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.2, 3 & 6 plus Handel's Water Music. Seems like I haven't done much around Baroque genre. Hopefully this will be a good occasion to catch up. So please join me if you have a craving for Baroque music in big repertoire by outstanding performers.

Please read below for concert details:

The Brandenburg Concertos are among the sunniest, most joyful works of Bach’s entire catalog. Bach originally presented a collection of concertos to the Margrave of Brandenburg in hopes of securing a post in his court. What the Margrave never heard (Bach didn’t land the position), we have come to embrace as absolute "must hear" music. Handel’s Water Music fared quite a bit better in its initial performance for a royal requester. On first hearing, Britain’s King George I, in 1717, was so taken with the suites that he requested several repeat performances. Jubilant and festive, the suites are among Handel’s most adored works for orchestra.

Well, there were some hard-core Baroque folks in the group this time namely Daniel (he's gotta be since he's the Early music guru, lol!:) and Doris. Both did back to back 4p & 8p so covered Brandenburg in its entirety, great!:)

Omg, soooo great!:) I really got the right concert that particularly highlights string instruments among Brandenburg concerti. My favorite is No.6 with lower strings... viola sounded SUBLIME!! Thanks for joining. Oh, we had a fun pre-meetup & post-meetup (unplanned!)
