Introduction
Hi, I'm Ian. I'm a classically trained pianist, now working for a music publisher. After a few twists and turns in life, I'd like to meet new people and go to more concerts and other cultural events in London. 'Meetup' looks really interesting!
What kinds of music do you enjoy? Any favourite composers?
Having lived most of my life in the classical music world, that is of course my predominant interest, but I also enjoy plenty of other musical styles, including jazz and some surprisingly naff pop! If there is a common ingredient in my musical enthusiams, it is a rich and emotionally compelling harmonic language, so I'm particularly drawn to such composers as Rachmaninov, Ravel, Mahler, Stravinsky, Chopin, Sibelius, Walton etc. And, yes, I am very interested in the other arts too, especially painting (as in appreciating it, rather than taking part, as I have no graphic skill whatsoever!).
