Let's read a graphic novel!

Maus is a graphic novel completed in 1991 by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It depicts Spiegelman interviewing his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor.

I read these comic books years ago but it is time to reread and discuss them with y'all. Very moving story.

Good discussion! Beautiful setting and gracious hostess. Disappointingly small group

Ugh. I hated missing but ended up out of state to see family. I really enjoyed the book(s).

I'd really been looking forward to this but I had a migraine kicking in so I wasn't up to it. I hope everyone enjoyed the discussion.

I am so glad I came to the meetup last night. Everyone made such great contributions! I have to say that I wished I'd read Spiegelman's entry in Wikipedia ahead of time. It is a MUST-READ! I feel like I understand the author 10x as well. There are enough references in that article to spend a whole year reading about him and reading his other works. To take one example, Spiegelman, like my wife, has "lazy eye" and therefore has no depth perception, which contributes to his artistic style. He's written some children's books, the first of which, "Open Me...I'm a Dog," has pop-ups and a leash and attempts to convince readers that it is a dog! Wonder if it would be convincing to Milton!

I just finished the first book---what a wonderful story. Even if your averse to graphic novels, I'd really give this a try

In terms of a location, given the smaller crowd seems like a coffee shop works
