Cleanweb November - Carbon Trading

Cleanweb November is all about Carbon Trading. If you want to know about how trading systems work, and how they might work in the future, sign up and come along! We've got a great lineup:

6.45 Doors open

7.00 Introduction & Community Announcements

7.10 Tom Dyson - lessons learnt building a personal carbon platform:

Tom will be telling us about the Carbon Account, a site set up in 2007 as a prototype for a personal carbon accounting system. He'll tell us a bit about what it did, and share what went right and what went wrong.

7.40 Phil McDonald - Hacking the price of carbon with the ETS:

Sandbag is an organisation which provides carbon offsetting by purchasing permits out of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Phil will be telling us about how this works, and give us some insights into the EU ETS and its limitations.

8.10 Break

8.30 Matt Finch - A blueprint for personal carbon trading today:

Matt will be telling us all about Tradable Energy Quotas (TEQs), a design for a national carbon rationing / trading scheme, and what might be needed in order to get it built and adopted.

9.00 Finish and head to the “Electricity Showroom” bar round the corner.

Hey all - the documentary Carbon Crooks which covers a lot of the failings of carbon trading is being shown at the Frontline Club on the Thursday following the meetup. The director will be there answering questions too. It costs £10, anyone fancy coming along?

Great topic! Is this event going to be about mandatory or voluntary carbon trading? Would be great to have speaker about both market.

It will hopefully be a bit of both, and hopefully a mix of corporate and personal too!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
