Inaugural meetup for Cleanweb Palo Alto

Carrie Armel and Jon Koomey are co-organizing the new Cleanweb Palo Alto group, and we'd like to invite all interested hackers, researchers, designers, engineers, and anyone else who's curious about Cleanweb to join us for this inaugural meet up.

To kick off the meeting, Jon and Carrie will each talk for a few minutes about their research and interests, but its main purpose is to find like-minded folks to brainstorm and decide which directions we should pursue as a group. Palo Alto and Stanford together have an amazing depth of people and resources, and we'd like to tap into those, so we can make the biggest impact we can.

For more details on the purpose and methods of Cleanweb, see http://cleanweb.co.

Looking for feedback and ideas from all of those who have signed up. What are you most interested in exploring as part of clean web? Kelly Schwarzhoff and I will be meeting with an interesting character from BMW soon and are focused on pulling together a public panel discussion for September (once students are back).

Please share your thoughts and aspirations with the group.

    Thanks!

This ramblings of a blogger on the D11 conference provides excellent food-for-thought on how the cleanweb may evolve: http://www.linkedin.com/today/post/article/20130602195402-2293107-sharing-some-learning-a-few-observations-from-d11

We talked a fair bit about the role of sensors in our inaugural meetup, and it figured prominently in D11.

The concept of Cleanweb is hard to pin down. However, I mentioned the BMW I Ventures initiative (http://www.bmw-i-usa.com/en_us/i-ventures/) and am following up to try to see if they can present their experiences.

We shared ideas and interests. There is still some confusion about what Clean Web actually means, but that should become clearer soon. I asked everyone to type their interests into the Clean Web Palo Alto site so those who didn't attend the meet up can read and contribute their own ideas.
