The "Opower" of Big Data: Analyzing Energy Consumption across 50MM Households

Opower, a leading software-as-a-service company founded in 2007 with little more than a rented desk in San Francisco, now works with 90 utility companies worldwide to encourage customers to save energy. With access to an unprecedented (and growing) amount of energy data – currently drawn from more than 50 million homes and businesses worldwide – Opower is uncovering important trends in how people use energy.

Join us as Barry Fischer, Head Writer/Editor of Opower’s big-data blog, “Outlier,” walks us through what messages really drive significant behavior change and how Opower leverages Hadoop and other analytical tools to draw continuous data insights. He'll also give tips on how you can use storytelling and visualizations to make your data analyses interesting and accessible to wide audiences (and perhaps even get featured in leading news outlets like The New York Times, Scientific American, LA Times and Gizmodo)!

We'll also have plenty of time to mingle with fellow Cleanweb folks.

Special thanks to Wilson Sonsini for hosting us!

Look forward to seeing you there!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
