I can honestly say I didn't know what Disc Golf was until I moved to Florida. I had the chance to play and found it to be challenging yet fun! John S. Taylor park has been given good ratings for there Disc Golf course as well as it's just a beautiful park in general.
I am no pro by all means but know the basics. For those that wanna give it a try I have attached two links. The first explains what Disc Golf is and the second are tips for beginners from your throws to what kind of disc to buy.
The course is free as it is in a public park however you will need to buy a Frisbee/disc to play. They are available at Dick's and Sports Authority. A single disc runs $9.99 - $15.99 depending on brand, size, weight. I would suggest only buying one unless you wanna become a pro. The second link has suggestions on which discs to buy or you can just ask an associate for beginner discs. If you buy your disk ahead of the scheduled day maybe practice at home. Grab a box or basket go outside, preferably where no one will be smacked in the head by a flying disc and put box/basket bout 50-100 ft. away and try to ring it. FYI -The course will have much longer ranges.
The pro's typically bombard the course first AM, I picked a midafternoon time so we can go at leisure. We can break up into groups of 6 if there is a large RSVP number.
Looking forward to a great time on the course!
