Continue the bitcoin discussion...

I would like to offer my coffeeshop for a bitcoin meetup. I would like to continue discussing the dissemination of bitcoin. I would like to address the many negative media news stories concerning bitcoin. Also, I would like to fully explore the drawbacks of bitcoin, if there any. Approaching it from a negative visualization standpoint helps in preparing for the worst as a merchant, or a bitcoin enthusiast. It makes it easier to handle the possible blowback and losses, though I firmly believe there is a good future, and this is the beginning of something huge.
Also, we could perhaps invite a couple of media types to jump in and observe the meeting and report on it.
Thoughts?
Thank you, Frank.

How many people ended up making it? I am curious how many people showed up who may not have confirmed through this website.

Josh - it will be first come first server. Could be 10, could be 200 people. No idea what to expect! But, it will be in the front of the shop, I will have a projector and you will see a huge Bitcoin Boulevard projection on the wall.

Some fun discussion. It was nice to actually talk about Bitcoin rather than just telling people about Bitcoin.

Couldn't agree more. Was great learning about other mining hardware and setups.

Saw some new faces. Had a very good discussion about everyone's experience or lack thereof in Bitcoin.

Congrats Monty! Welcome to Earth Gavin (on my birthday too no less, also William Shakespeare's). So, named as a nod to Gavin Andreson perhaps? To the moon!

Thanks for adding this! We are also mentioned today on Cleveland.com, Crain's Cleveland, and The Plain Dealer is doing piece as well. I really want to try to use this press to attract attention to this group, too. I really hope we get some new members at these next two events.

The major implications are for minors and those of use who arbitrage as I see it. Consumers need not pay attention to their nonsense.

Agreed, miners have it rough with this! But, I also think consumers can't really ignore this issue, at least those who have the desire to remain 100% lawful. Granted, yes most will ignore it. I also think (hope) there are changes in store. As for today though, Antonopoulos is entirely correct in his ascertain about all of this: https://www.youtube.co...

Consumers will ignore it even if they don't change it, but I think they will. The same as consumers now ignore so called "use tax". I sure as heck won't report every single transaction to them. I already have to track every buy and sell though for the bitcoins that I resell through localbitcoins...and that is a pain let me tell you.

I am curious what everyone's thoughts are about the new IRS rulings? This has a lot of very burdensome tax reporting implications, especially for miners and consumers. Thoughts?

Wish I could join! Will be out of town that weekend.

I don't see Coffeeproper on coinmap. Do you accept bitcoin? If you do, I can add you to the map.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
