Good people organising it. They seem committed and have real hands on experience.
Agree with the discussion and approach of nailing down a dedicated facility @ CSU. Venue location is less important than predictability

The Cleveland Big Data and Hadoop User Group is for those interested in the distributed processing of large amounts of data, focusing heavily on the Hadoop stack.
If you have more data than can comfortably fit on a single server and/or have a processing window that you can't meet processing with a single server, then you should come to our meetings!
This group is industry agnostic and has a mix of classic user-group presentations (e.g., "I tried this out and here is what happened") as well as informative vendor sessions.
Topics include networking, storage (e.g., HDFS, KeyValue storage like HBase), computation (e.g., MapReduce/YARN, graph processing), indexing/search (e.g., Solr), and analytics (e.g., Hive), among others.
If you have an interest in presenting, or have a topic you would like to see presented, contact Doug.

Meetup has allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have met naturally - they're totally different than me.
