Linux for Home Servers

Ernest Durbin will be presenting on Linux, servers, and how you should be using Linux in your home.

The Linux Desktop is a wonderful thing, but with the prevalence of 'on-the-go' computing devices like tablets, smartphones, and laptops long-running and reoccurring tasks can become cumbersome to maintain. This presentation will discuss some of the use cases I have found for leveraging a stay at home Linux server.

I'm looking for someone to help me configure a Linux mail server in my home network of Win 7 PCs.
I need one because my HP 4730 copier/scanner won't scan unless I have an email server set up. I already have a spare PC and I can install the OS. I just need someone to configure it for me. I'm in Solon or we could use Join.me to remotely configure.
Any help would be appreciated. [masked] or ray100 at Gmail dot com.

Definitely looking to toss around ideas about a Pi based home media solution, with a Linux media server back end. Doing some things with xbmc now, but want MOAR!
