We have the roadmap now for Krudh and working on refactoring the code before going forward with the next stages. We also decided to change how we do some things, such as revisions. But that's going to make things pretty easy for us...

Kind Regards,
Aoirthoir.

I was probably going to stop in tomorrow too....it will be good to see you going through wordpress (again)...it doesn't hurt to be exposed to it as often as possible.

MY GOD! You early risers drive me crazy :D

Actually 10am is my official start time. I am in the office by 9am and that gives me time to clean up any mess, situate myself, check my email and blogs (arstechnica I loves you), and all that kind of stuff. Then everyone else starts coming in about 10am when they do. Tomorrow I think it's just me. So far as I know. But Saturday and Sunday look to be busy days.

Kind Regards
Aoirthoir

Regarding GoDaddy, I would avoid the auto installs for things like WordPress, Joomla, phpBB and so on, not of not just on GoDaddy but every host. The best way to go is to use your own by hand install. Or get someone you know, who happens to be an attractive hairy Irishman*, to install for you. Then you can move on and learn to do the install later. Go Daddy makes things too much of a pain.

By the time you (or I) figure out how to use some feature of Go Daddy's panel, I have already done that same thing on Dreamhost, Went and got some hot coco, been to the Gemini Center for my workout and swim, back again, called you to see how it was going, took my advil to recover from my workout, brushed my hair, got turned down by 12 and a half clients, and got arrested for possession, released and fought it all the way to SCOTUS. And WON. AND watched all episodes of Battle Star Galactica, the NEW series.

Now Regarding child themes, while what Heidi said is true, that often they are used in the case of frameworks often. It is also true they can be used just whenever you use any theme. I use them as a handy dandy way to prevent myself from mucking around in someone else's theme and messing it up. I will explain more during co-working though. But they are a real convenience tool.

* NOTE: of the phrase "attractive hairy Irishman" one of the words is a lie. I leave it to the reader to determine on their own which.

Pam,
GoDaddy is a pain, but you should still be able to FTP to your WordPress directory to update your CSS file. (under wp-content>themes>yourtheme)

You mentioned child themes which makes me think you may be working with a theme framework such as Thesis or even Twenty-Ten. If that is the case, it won't be quite as simple as with a more vanilla theme. You may need to spend some time getting to know hooks and functions.php (the one in your theme file not in the main directory.) These types of themes rely on function calls far more than others. Thesis for example is very easy for end users but is more difficult for developers to customize.

If that is not the trouble you may find it helpful to peruse

and

which will help you understand more about the WordPress loop and the template hierarchy.

Good luck!

I used Godaddy. I know I know, but it was all I knew at the time when I started this site back in Sept. The client JUST got me the content, so I'm stuck with Godaddy. And, of course, They installed Wordpress for me. I'll never do that again.

I have co-working every day, just about seven days a week. I would need to know the time.

Also what host did you install WordPress on and how did you install it?

Aoirthoir,

I'm having a devil of a time with this wordpress site. I was under the impression that this was easier to customize than Joomla, but after going to Lynda.com for some tutorialstalking about child templatesthis is NOT going well. I am a designer and was able to go into Joomla and customize the css with little problem. Do you have co-working tomorrow? If so, may I come there and work and ask you some questions about this site?

Thx, Pam Adams
