So folks'v been askin if they could come to the second session even if they missed the first. I'm askin for them not to because we have a full house as it was with those that made it to the first session. I'll be running more of these I am sure (specially if the briberies exists with the chocolates, dark chocolates please only..muahahahahah!) Also it's pretty important to make all of them, even if you know some of this stuff, because then you will know why i am saying to do things one way or another. So hopefully everyone is understanding.
Now besides that here's what we did sunday as a refresher.
1. DO your backups. That was the first point I made. Nuff said there.
2. Splained a bit about the fact that MySQL is an RDBMS, relational database management system.
It's called relational because information in one place RELATES to information in another.
3. Talked about the status of MySQL with Sun and Oracle. Is MySQL going to go away? Prolly not.
There was more, most of the theory and explanations. Two good links to sum up some of what we talked about:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relational_databasehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database_normalization
Alright so that is a BRIEF summary. There wasn't any homework so no worries there. But that info will help folks whether they came or not.
IMPORTANT ----> PLEASE READ ----->
For the next two meetings, the only ones that should come are those that *WERE HERE LAST SUNDAY* (sorry for the caps, not shouting just really emphasisizing with emphatic emphasis). As a result I won't be posting the next two classes on the calendar. I don't want to have to go deletin' RSVPs of folks that should not be attending. Leads to folks givin' me the evil eyes and sayin YO AOIRTHOIR! Why you deletin' ME? And answerin' those questions are all times I could be mackin' with me Julie or somethin' ya know?
So if you were here last sunday please feel free to join us.
Also if you were here you know how crowded the spot was. Well news be good! Say Hooray with me! We will be working in the back on the workbenches. I've even got a nice monitor set up so folks can follow what is going on. And we'll have accounts set up so folks can create tables, insert, update, select and delete. (Yes you will learn what those mean and how to do them on Sunday.
Lastly, some folks asked would we be doing more than this. Maybe. I'd dig doing so, especially if we have a good response, the Noms are available (see lolcats for 'splainations...). But we're going to try to get through the MySQL Intro and then the PHP Intro and take it from there.
So that's about if yens have any questions please email me.
Many Kind Regards
