I am a work-at-home mom of two. I have a 3-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter and working at home does give me some freedom. We make lots of trips to the zoo, we've gone to the museum, and all kinds of fun stuff. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave much time for work, so I'm usually up pretty late. I'm looking forward to when the kids start school and I can work in the office so I can finally catch some zz's!! wink

I work for a very small, family-owned company. My title is Systems Manager, but it is really anything in IT. I do Cocoa UI applications, WebObjects applications, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and even a smidgeon of PHP. I'm also responsible for administering all of the servers and client machines in our organization, so I don't get to concentrate on my web work as much as I'd like.

I inherited our web site quite a while ago and I still haven't brought it into the 21st century. I've started building a modern object-oriented Javascript library and I've put a lot of effort into moving presentational markup to CSS and moving some really horrible HTML to XHTML. But, I'm one person working part-time so it is slow going. I am a developer and definitely not a designer, so I usually have a very hard time mocking up new pages. Once I have something, though, I can code it really fast.

Our company is a mac shop and I work on a Macbook Pro. I love Apple's hardware and their software. I only use Windows to test web pages. I also work with Debian and RedHat Linux, and I've worked with a few other Unix variants in the past. I'm totally comfortable on the command-line and up until recently did a big portion of my coding in emacs. TextMate was the only thing that could pull me away!

While I'm being a mother, wife, housekeeper, laundress, and Systems Manager, I am trying to learn as much as I can about web standards and keep up with new developments. I'm very interested in Ajax, although I can't do anything with it at the moment. I'm really quite excited about this group and I can't wait until I can actually attend a meeting! I'm very much looking forward to the workshops. Unfortunately, since I am a Jack-of-All-Trades, but Master of none, I don't think I have anything that I could present about. But I hope I can eventually catch up to everyone else and maybe someday give back!
