I truly enjoyed this particular Opera. I enjoyed the people too. I greatly enjoyed going out to dinner at Alladins with 4 of the nicest women ever. I enjoyed our conversations greatly!!!

Argh. I got there too late to find the rest of the group, and then missed Aladdin's. Next time. I was in the top row too! Didn't see the messages below until just now. I liked this production for the most part. It was a bit of a mixed bag, but mostly fun. Some wonderful voices! Really enjoyed it. And, after reading online comments elsewhere, I remembered that while modern updates are hard to pull off, I get a kick out of all the pearl clutching they inspire. I like traditional staging, but I also like seeing a piece from a new perspective.

I loved Zeljko Lucic's signing, but this NY Post reviewer's comment cracked me up. I had a similar reaction. "When Rigoletto discovered his murdered daughter in the trunk of his car, he looked only mildly perturbed, as if he’d forgotten to pack a spare tire."

great music -- great singing, but...there was some shameful...sexualizations...by this director -- very disappointed...that peter gelb...would allow that

I've watched several of these telecasts from the Met. They are remarkably entertaining.

since we're in the preparing vein, one of the things...about these broadcasts, is you don't get..."pure" opera (which some purists...bemoan) -- but, anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming -- you get...behind-the-scenes -- interviews -- changing sets (which can be amazing, for some operas) -- a whole...range of...fun and frivolity

I don't know if I am a big opera person because the only one I ever saw in person was phantom of the opera. I saw that in 1994 in Toronto.

plus, on the metropolitan opera's web-site, you can see...one production a week, for free -- as well as subscribe, to watch...as much...as your...opera-loving ears...will let you

Oh well, we'll have a great time only if it's the 10 of us in the theater, right? It's Opera and it's THE MET live from New York !!!

  • Ayad R.

    hi

i've been to dozens of these, and...only two (at least, in valley view)...have had large crowds -- traviata and aida

rigoletto, certainly, is more popular than most, but i don't expect...it'll have that large a crowd -- beside us

    • Lois

Lovely, if that's the case we shouldn't have a problem obtaining the best seats in the house. Thanks for your input, Ayad.

Even with tickets, the seats are first come, first serve, so for good seats, I'd suggest we get there around noon to sit together. When I saw La Traviata, there wasn't a vacant seat in the house!
