http://lincolnincleveland.blogspot.com/2010/09/cleveland-play-house-hitchcocks-39.html

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • I laughed so hard that I cried. Twice.
  • Go. See. This. Show.

REVIEW: The 39 Steps @ Cleveland Play House[masked] – CoolCleveland.com

http://www2.coolcleveland.com/blog/2010/09/review-the-39-steps-cleveland-play-house-09-17-10/

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • For pure escapist fun done rapier sharp, you can’t do better than this. Not on YouTube, the boob tube or a comedy club. You gotta see this show.
  • The production is more than clever, it is a delight. And the acting and stage business is almost miraculous.
  • Once the action heats up in the first act, the titters turn to belly laughs and soon your chest hurts from chuckling.
  • …you don’t want this dream of a show to end.

REVIEW: Farcical THE 39 STEPS delights at the Cleveland Play House – Roy Berko

http://royberko.info/

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Go! Laugh! Enjoy!
  • Alex, my teen age grandson, who is known around town as “The Kid Reviewer” as he opens the window of how tweens and teens will react to shows, had very positive words of wisdom. He thought kids and their parents “will really enjoy the show,” especially all the “really funny parts.” (He's a teenager who likes the word “really.”)

REVIEW: Clever '39 Steps' a Wonder to Watch – Spangle Magazine

http://www.spanglemagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=543:39-steps-review&catid=46:theater&Itemid=70

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • As the audience laughed around me, I was too busy watching the intricacies of this complicated and sprinting production. In this era of computer-generated special effects, actors (ie: Eddie Murphy) often jump between roles near instantaneously, at least on the silver screen. Yet on the Drury stage, these four live actors accomplish almost the same thing, diving behind an object and emerging seconds later in different clothes, wigs, beards, hats — and characterizations. It’s so seamless, you forget
  • …it’s the intricate physicality that delivers all of the charm.
  • The 39 Steps is just so damned clever, you can’t help but enjoy the ride.
