CleRB: Sudoku Madness

Some exciting changes are happening with the Cleveland Ruby Brigade. First off, we are trying a new location closer to the east side. We will be meeting at Lean Dog Software, a new startup in Cleveland. We'll be meeting on the boat formerly known as Hornblowers. The boat is between the Rock Hall and Burke Lakefront Airport, by the USS Cod. Second, please note the new day for the meeting. After discussing at January's meeting, we decided Monday would work out better for everyone. We will continue using the Randori format for solving a something real in Ruby. Randori is a hands on approach to group development that gives everyone who wants it a chance to get involved at whatever level is comfortable for them. Read more about it at http://www.notesfroma.... This month we will be working on writing a Sudoku solver, something we started last month but didn't complete (for the sake of the group we'll start from scratch). To learn more about the rules of Sudoku see http://www.sudoku.nam.... We will set aside the last half hour of the meeting for lightening talks. These are completely voluntary 5-10 minute talks on any topic you feel like talking about. Some possible topics include: Sinatra, something on your favorite plugin or gem, cool code you wrote recently, or anything else you might want to talk about. Please email joe at faithfulgeek dot org if you have any questions or concerns!

I'm glad I stayed to see what this meeting was about! Although I don't have a Ruby/TDD background, I was able to follow it fine. Looking forward to hopefully checking out CleRB again...

Nice group. This was a good evening. As discussed - I think a short preliminary design discussion would be beneficial. Perhaps a more discrete challenge - one that can be solved in a single evening.

A bit more people than normal made the workshop a little less intimate. I think this style meeting would work well in groups up to 10 people or so. Maybe we should split into 2 groups next time.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
