Cleveland Skat Club Night at the Cleveland Männerchor

Our regular venue, the Cleveland Männerchor is an authentic German social club serving great food and drink in a card-friendly atmosphere! We start a bit later, 7:00pm, making it easier for players to join us and taking advantage of our venue's late closing time!

This is our regular weekly Skat game where we play in a friendly, but competitive setting for prizes. Newer players are encouraged to check out our "Skat School" sessions to develop their skills before attempting "Club Nights". "Rookie" players who are newer to Skat and have not yet won a prize are eligible to compete at a reduced fee of just $1.

Since we will be playing organized competition within the CSC, we will be following all rules of the International Skat Order (aka International Rules). The ISO is available for viewing here:

We will be charging a $3 fee for CSC play ($1 for Rookies), all of which will be paid right back as prizes to the top 25% scoring participants at each event. We will also be assessing a “bump money” fee of $0.25 per lost hand in order to pay for the cards, year-end prizes and other expenses. Rookie players do not pay bump money.

Gut Blatt!

Two full tables and two VERY hot decks tonight--a total of 29 grands were played! (Not to mention numerous high-scoring suit games.) I managed to take fullest advantage and post the club's new high score for the year, a sizzling 1877 (15-0). Roger notched his second best score of the year , 1642 (15-1), which wins easily on most club nights, but not tonight. A total of four players broke 1200, including "newbie" Rick (congrats, sir!), who has played enough online Skat in the last few weeks to justify the quotation marks LOL. Another testament to my assertion that for the serious, "numbers-oriented" card player (and Rick certainly qualifies), there simply is no better card game than Skat, hands down. And how about Larry returning from his Sarasota hibernation, during which he still worked on his game with a bunch of our tournament buddies from Ontario? Nice! The cards never sat well for Larry tonight, but he did make a nice "without 5", so the Ontario gang taught him something!
