Hello all. I put this group together kind of on a whim, thinking it would be great if I could just post a time and place I wanted to climb and then sit back and wait for people to rsvp if it fit their schedule. Putting my name on a list at the gym wasn't really panning out, nor doing basically the same thing on someone's RSS feed. I didn't think people would join up so fast and I'd have a little more time to figure out the best way to set the group up. But, you're all very proactive! :-)
I've played with Meetup a little bit as an organizer, but not a whole lot. It seemed that making everyone an Event Organizer might accomplish my goal. Well, in the best spirit of the internet, web 2.x, and modern software development, I'm charging ahead without being entirely sure of the best solution. To that end, I'll go ahead and fulfill my promise to make everyone event organizers.
One caveat: apparently even the lowest rung of folks who can organize events have the ability to attach fees to their events. That is something I want to avoid, at least at this point in time, but I don't have the option to turn that off. So I'm going to make the financials of the group public and ask that no one attach any fees to their "events." We'll see how it plays out. As long as everyone is sensible, I'm sure there will be no problems.
