New Meetup: Top Rope at Split Rock in Corte Madera

Announcing a new Meetup for Climb On!

What: Top Rope at Split Rock in Corte Madera

When: Saturday, August 7,[masked]:30 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

I've been meaning to bring my kids to split rock to let them try climbing's been a long time since I was there and it might be tricky for them but they'll have fun. You will too. I will set up a top rope (this will take a while as I'll be double checking myself). This will be good for anyone that is new to climbing outdoors and just wants to have easy fun in the hot sun and get some time in on real rock. I've got all the equipment ...just bring your harness and shoes. I'm guessing we'll be there until about 12:00. Hope some of you new members can make it. Feel free to email me with any questions.

In searching for directions to post here I discovered "Bay Area Outdoor Rock Climbing" Meet Up group. Someone from this group just hosted an event there on the 25th....darn, if I'd a known I'd have gone to that one. Anyway, I lifted these instructions and it's exactly how I remember getting there. Check out this link for photos from their day on the rock last Saturday:

Driving directions: after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge from SF, drive six miles on US-101 and take the Paradise Drive exit in Corte Madera. Follow Paradise Dr. east for about three miles to a right turn onto a really short and steep road called Taylor Rd. Continue to the end of Taylor Road and find parking somewhere that's not blocking a driveway. If I remember correctly you can see the rock off to the left when you start up the trail to turtle rock.

Bring lots of water, sunscreen and a sun hat...there is NO shade.
