Tips for managing your meetup/appointment/partner-request

Remember that the site will automatically remind people about your meetup, even if they haven't RSVPed. This is to promote meetups and get more people to sign up. For our group, the intention is a little reversed, and people might get pestered about climb partner requests that they aren't going to accept. To change this, you just need to edit your meetup under Email Settings and uncheck the "Email Members: automatic reminders" option. Here is the help for that option:

-----------------------------------------------------
Sit back and relax. We'll remind everybody.

Meetup automatically sends reminder emails, which are a great way to get people to RSVP. But, if you meet up frequently, you might want to turn them off so your members don't get too much email.

14 days before, the Meetup is announced to group members who haven't RSVP'd.
7 days before, people who have RSVP'd get a reminder that they said they'd be there.
1 day before, everyone gets a last-minute reminder.
-----------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure if turning this off also means the meetup isn't announced when you create it. I'll do a bit more research and post again. Please respond to this if you feelings either way about getting too many extra notices.
