Immutant / Editors & Tooling

We're going to split this month's meeting between a couple of different topics: Immutant, and Editors & Tooling.

Immutant - Steven Byrnes

Immutant is an application server for Clojure. It's an integrated platform built on JBoss AS7 providing support for Ring handlers, asynchronous messaging, caching, scheduled jobs, XA transactions, clustering, daemons and more!

Editors & Tooling

  • Sublime Text - Steven Byrnes
  • Eclipse - Steven Reynolds
  • Vim - Daniel Solano Gómez
  • Emacs - Nelson Morris

We'll talk or demonstrate the different editors and their integration with clojure. I hope everyone is already using leiningen.

It was good seeing you all as usual. I commited my presentation to, and I pushed my fork of the web site that adds messaging to Two questions came up that I didn't have an answer for, but now I do. :-) 1. Is it possible to deploy Immutant to an existing JBoss AS7? It should be possible to deploy Overlay (TorqueBox + Immutant), but it would probably depend on the version of AS7 and how it was configured.
    2. Do deploys work across the cluster? Not by default, as I mentioned. It was mentioned that there might be a way. It's called "Domain Mode". There isn't any Immutant-specific documentation, but there are some AS7 docs on it. The only caveat is you can't do deployments the way I did it: directory deployment (where it just deploys a pointer to the app directory). You have to deploy archives, instead. (Which are specially formatted zip files.)

It was nice to meet you all! I'd love to come back in a few months and do a core.logic talk.

What time do people usually start showing up?

I usually try to be there ~6:45. Most people come sometime after that, usually all filtered in by 7:10 or so.

I think I need to shoot for ~6:45 next time. :-)
