Clojure Hack Night

  • Jul 22, 2014 · 6:00 PM

This meetup will be devoted to working through some Clojure problems as a group. There's no better way to learn than diving in and solving problems with others. We'll pair up and work through some example problems together. This meetup is beginner friendly so don't worry if you don't have any Clojure experience. Bring your laptop if you have one.  We'll post the actual problems later. If anyone has any suggestions/requests contact the meetup organizers.

Hi guys, I'm curious in anyone has any good references for clojure as far as convincing your group to switch. I'm am thinking about pitching it to some of my coworkers for some smaller projects. If you know of any good links let me know. Thanks.

Here's a good video to watch about adopting Clojure. http://yow.eventer.co... This is an article the talks about the expression problem and how Clojure solves it. It's my favorite article about Clojure's multimethods and protocols. http://www.ibm.com/de...

Thanks for the advice and links Jason. I think this is just what I was looking for.

Cool event, thanks! Once small suggestion: could future meetups be scheduled a little later - 6:30pm perhaps?

I've been thinking about making that change already. A lot of people have difficulty getting there by 6. I'll schedule the next one for 6:30 pm in the future.

Tuesday was a lot of fun. I agree with the later time or move to a more central location.

You could simplify the generation of the possible guesses by (mapcat combo/permutations (comb/combinations (range 0 10) 4)) This was the approach I used. Syntax may be wrong i'm typing from memory. Otherwise Josh's solution is very elegant.

Hey all. I came up with a fairly simple solution to the bulls and cows problem that takes advantage of the laziness of clojure's sequences. It requires about 5.5 guesses on average, verifying the claim from wikipedia.

That's impressive. I'll have to check out your implementation and Vince's later.

Really enjoyed the meetup! Here's the solution I came up with to the two problems, if anyone wants to swap notes:

I regret not making it tonight. Last month's activity was pretty awesome. I have to get my bad back fixed.

Hi guys i'm interested in connecting with the Clojure community. I will probably get a little late because I can't usually leave work until 5:30. Is there anyone I can connect with if I can't find the place?

    July 18, 2014

    • Jason G.

Hi Paul, the place isn't too hard to find once you spot Bertucci's. I put a sign on the door before meet ups too. If you email me at [masked] I can give you my number in case you can't find it.

Paul, I'm also likely to be late - coming from Bethesda & can't leave before 5:30ish either
