Co-Founders Wanted March Meetup

Hacker Dojo (map)

Selected By: Alain Raynaud

Based on the success of the previous MeetUps, we'll be back with the same format in March. There will be 10 speaking slots available (3 minutes each).

Pleae contact the organizer if you have a startup and are looking for a co-founder.

This time, we'll have a cover charge of $5 to help cover drinks and better food. Yes, champagne will be included just like last time!

In addition to the 10 presentation slots, we'll also organize up to 3 topics of informal discussion. If you are interested in leading a topic, let me know via the answer section of the site.

Mix of entreprenuers (non-technical) to technical was a bit too high for this event. Everyone's interest seemed to be the same - find solid technical people for their ventures. Need to increase the breadth among the technically savvy.

Very good place to meet new people and share your ideas. I will definitely participate in the next meeting.

A very good audience and presentation framework. I now have multiple co-founder candidates.

Very good. great chance to check out the Hacker Dojo and to meet and compare notes with more startup people. Suggestion about the presentations, though there's nothing super clever for me to say: - Hold presenters to the 3-minute limit (if time runs out let them show their contact info slide and have maybe 30 seconds more to wrap up) - Announce in advance that there will be 1-minute standups and run them right after the scheduled speakers. Half the people left in the short break time with the lights up, and the crowd was so noisy that the speakers weren't. If the crowd can't be respectful on its own, force the issue by some means. - Don't make the talks the terminal event of the night - now that people know something about one another, why don't they hang around (this confused me)

Well organized and informative presentations. Informal mixer was also well laid out with food and drinks.
  • Rishi Yadati
With crisp presentations it is organized well.

It was great meeting new people and new ideas, but there were too many ideas and not enough devs. That was kind of contradicting. I'll definitely attend the next meet as it was mentioned that the ratio of devs>ideas will be a better match. Also at the end there was no courtesy towards the last minute speakers. Oh..wanted to thank Alain Raynaud for making this happen. It brings great opportunities for everyone to fill in the gap of need. So overall the outcome was good. Thanks again and will like to present in the next meet. I'll email you for a slot. Thank you. Ben Rombaoa

The Co-Founders Wanted Meetup provides a good way for entrepreneurs to meet development talent. Most of the presenting entrepreneurs had at most a prototype of the product, and no funding yet.

My first co-founders meetup and any meetup as it happens. Let's see: The setup. The organizers did a nice job of providing the equipment for the presentations along with preparing the slides in advance. The snacks -- food and drink -- were ample and well received. An improvement would be with the name tag distribution. It took nearly 45 minutes to distribute the tags. My suggestion would be to preprint the tags prior to the meetup and get a few people to distribute. The print-as-you-go method is good for small groups, but this wasn't that small of a group. Third, the meetup. The presentations went well and smoothly. Keeping the presentation time short helped the presenters stay on task which worked well to hold our interest and get through the 13 presenters scheduled. The downside was that the presentation didn't start until 7:20. As the meetup officially began at 6:00 PM, I found the delay too long. Overall, a good experience. I'd attend other.
