Rudgear Road Park n Ride
This week's ride will be about 30 miles round trip starting from the Rudgear Rd Park n Ride. We will be starting at 8 am. NOTE: at the start point the group may decide to take a slightly different route but still keep it at a similar distance, speed and difficulty (see links below). Be sure to be at the start point on time to learn of possible changes.
Route will go down Danville Blvd to San Ramon and then head west on Norris Canyon Rd towards Las Trampas Park. We will ride up Bollinger Canyon to our turning point and then head back in the direction we came.
Elevation gain to turn around is about 950 feet. Map My Ride says that we will have about 870 feet of elevation gain. About 500 feet of that gain in 4.2 miles on Bollinger Canyon Rd itself, starting at mile 9.6 and going for 5.4 miles to the turn-around. Other 30 mile routes from Rudgear Park n Ride have half those elevation gains.
The Ride, Skill, Fitness Rating System (RSFRS) puts this at a 3!!/TM/>30&>3). Steady touring pace with considerable climbing likely requiring having done more than 30 minutes of cardio/aerobic exercise more than 3 days per week for several weeks.
Helmets Required. Bring a spare tube(s), small set of tools, pump.
