Co-Founders Wanted Austin Meetup

  • May 7, 2012 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We are back with our regular co-founders meetup format: 10 speaking slots available (3 minutes each) for startups looking for co-founders or looking to hire developers/designers.

Pitching in our Meetup also let's you "practice" your pitch and get feedback from other startups and investors, always a good thing!

If you are one of the startups that are going to pitch, please read the pitch rules and then send the organizer your pitch deck (PowerPoint format) by email which should not be longer than 4 slides, remember that you'll only have about 3 minutes to present.

If you are a software developer interested in joining a cool startup, you can attend for FREE. Just e-mail the organizer with a link to your LinkedIn profile or other evidence of your technical skills.

If you are a consultant looking to sell some services to young startups, you are in the wrong place.

Schedule: doors open at 6:30, presentations start at 7:00 until 8pm, then more networking.

These are the results from our last Meetup:

Really enjoyed it! A good mixed group of biz dev, entrepreneurs, and tech guys. It was my first time pitching, so like it says, it was an awesome opportunity to practice.

Could have used some way besides colored dots to determine who was looking for whom at mixer.

    I liked the event but...

First off, this is not a criticism. Its constructive feedback with the hope that by identifying a challenge, more minds can be applied to come up with an improvement.

It was a hard call between 4 and 5 stars on this one. In the end, I went with 4 stars because I somehow had an expectation that the networking before/after the event would be more than just a room full of people with no structure or direction. You know how it is hard to meet people when you know nobody in the room.

The colored dots to segment people are a good idea, but with about 100 people at the event, there were too many misses and time consumed wasted discussions being polite. I needed better filtering. Unfortunately, I struggle with how this networking challenge can be overcome, so this isn't a criticism but a cry for help. With a focused group like this, there should be something more we can do beyond the dot categorization. Maybe added keywords to the name tags, 3-6 words?

Nice group. Need to get some more assortment of ideas. Also liked the having one or two that wasn't fully baked and got the masses involved.

One more idea, this meetup should also start Google Group for continuous networking, questions & answers. This way they can align the goals in better way.
