This month, Brian Buck leads in a lab session of sorts exploring the Sphero API. This should be a fun fun exploring robotic programming for iOS and Mac! Check out the Sphero API on github and also have a look at the Sphero Docs prior to attending this month's meeting.

I wished I'd been able to stay a little longer. I was having fun playing with the Spheros and was starting to play with the LEDs.

Thanks everyone for attending. I hope you learned a little about the Sphero SDK and had fun playing! Orbotix would love to see more 3rd party apps so get a Sphero and start coding. I might be able to get a discounted price - $99. Please contact me if you are interested.

Also, please help spread the word, write a review, pick a book from the in-app book store. MMG Sidekick for iPad available on the App Store.

For those that have cloned the Git repo for tonight's meetup, please pull latest. I made some updates to where the project looks for RobotKit framework.

Alternatively, I will have the project on a thumb drive for those to copy.

I'd like to give away a free coupon to my course "A Blender Game Character" tonight at the meeting, is that cool? In it I show how to use Blender to create an animated character and generate sprites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqPf4wgrpuc

Emily, we will need some extra floor space for this event to roll around :) Anything you can arrange would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Open floor space with as few obstacles possible so we have room to roll Spheros around. Examples, wide hallways, spacious conf rooms, kitchen, etc. Really, not a big deal if this is not the case. We can manage.

We have lots of hallways, conference rooms, etc... - it will just be a matter of choosing which to use!

Here is the code we'll cover. Go ahead and clone/fork this repo prior to the meetup. Remember to bring your Macbook and iOS device if you want to participate. I have about 20 Spheros charging up!

Will there be time for lightnight talks (IE, 5 mins to show off cool things)?

If you wanna show off something, feel free to let me know. I had mentioned lightning talks for the iosdevcamp, if you're up for that also!

I've got a couple of Big Nerd Ranch books to give out tomorrow! Trust me, you want one of these!

A few Orbotix crew members will be providing support for this event. Can I get a woot?!! We can expect a dozen or so Spheros for those that need one. I will post more details later in regards to lab setup.

If you want to participate, plan on bringing the following:

    1. Macbook with Xcode 5 and valid dev provisioning profiles to run demo on iOS device. You will not be able to run in simulator.
    2. Your Sphero if you own one.

    Where should I park?

    October 29, 2013

    • Emily

There's 2 hour metered parking on the streets and many parking structures along the mall. The closest is at 16th and Champa above the Chilis. Many lots will offer evening discounted rates if you arrive after 5 or 6pm.

      Hope that helps!
