October 2013 Civic Hacknight I

Code for DC is the DC chapter of Code for America Brigade – a national network of civic hackers who contribute their skills toward using the web as a platform for local government and community service.

We're building new tools and liberating data to help DC work better. Come help!

This meeting we'll work on projects ranging from education to fiscal transparency to tree mapping. If you're already part of a project team, bring your project and be ready to put people to work. If not, that's great! Bring your creativity and your laptop, if you've got one; we'll find something awesome for you to do.

After some quick announcements we'll break out into groups to get to work. Read more about current projects at http://www.codefordc.org/projects

I'm usually not one to bail on events but I just couldn't swing it tonight. I am going to start working on an emergency response project though is anyone wants to reach out

Just switched jobs and still getting in the swing of commuting, so I won't be able to make it this time. I would love to hear what affordable housing gets done tonight.

Everyone, I'll have to miss this as I'm under the weather. Fearless Co-Captain Justin Grimes will be there though; get in contact with him for help getting into the building!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
