What we’re about

Code for Philly is a community of civic technologists. We use tech, data, and design as a means of civic engagement. We're what happens when civic-minded developers, designers, coders, organizers, and communicators come together to build a better Philadelphia for everyone. We apply our skills as technologists to problem solve alongside members of our communities and local government.
We meet frequently to work on a variety of projects, working towards a better, more connected and open city.
We welcome and encourage everyone of all skill levels to participate as we are firm believers in getting your hands dirty and learning by doing.

Why should you join?
You will get to work first hand on exciting projects that are making a huge difference for the city of Philadelphia. You’ll get to collaborate and learn with some of Philly’s leading technologists too!
You can join an existing project, create a new one, or even bring in something you're already working on and collaborate with other Code for Philly members! All Code for Philly projects are not-for-profit, open source, and public/civic minded.
We also have open Organizing Team leadership roles.

Where can you learn more?
Our events and RSVPs are primarily hosted here, on MeetUp.
We’re part of Code for America, a non-partisan, non-political 501(c)3 organization founded in 2009 to bring web-industry professionals to work with city governments in the United States in order to promote openness, participation, and efficiency in municipal governments.
