Code for Rockford Brigade Kick Off & OpenData Coding Session

Please join us and invite your friends!

May 10 will be the kick off for the Code for Rockford Brigade.  Please join us to discuss plans for the Brigade this year.  Following we will have a regular coding session...

We will meet the second Saturday of every month and hope to launch at the July Apps & Ales event. We are working on two apps. “Rockford’s Backyard” will be an app that allows citizens to submit their own stories about how they are improving the community and after fact confirmation, will release those stories to the media and community partners to share in their own social media. “Barrel Dodger” will be an app that will allow citizens to be notified when their regular route to work, school, etc. may be altered due to road closings or construction. Once these two are complete, we plan to move on to develop an app that makes the financial records of the City readily available to the citizens, thereby increasing transparency and reducing FOIA time requirements by staff.
