If you're interested in working on crowdlit, an app for reporting street light outages in seattle, here's some useful info: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12TeF0AaDRD5wyoIyN8cxUzyOIeEOjnMWwUzZrWU9O7c/edit

:-( I may have to miss this week -- it's the first day of an embedded systems class at UW Bothell that will be based on the autonomous robot tricycle project I work on, and we're all invited to be there the first day. I'll find out if we're actually doing anything there (e.g. demo-ing) or just being introduced. If the latter, I may be able to beg off and be at the CfS meetup instead.

Seth mentioned road closures. We (Sahana Eden) have a project to add route planning, e.g. using OSRM, and want to support road closures. One option -- using a local copy of a piece of OSM that can be modified without need to push unverified data back into OSM -- relates to a project Michael for incorporating mods to OSM without actually changing the map.

Hi, what's actually happening at this event? A bunch of wiki-content-authoring, or something else?

Wiki editing happens, but it's also an open hacking space for folks working on civic engagement projects. Example projects: an app that tracks food trucks in Seattle, an app that will allow people to subscribe to notifications based on city data like fire/crime/road closure/etc. that happens on their block.

Things like that. Folks are welcome to come work on similar projects, volunteer to help with existing projects, and even just hang out to learn more about open gov/data and related topics.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
