Coder Kids Harrisburg is a free and open non-profit group founded for both girls and boys ages 7-17 interested in technology.
Our major focus is on learning and exploring computer science and programming. We will explore game programming; Minecraft modding (which involves programming in Java); HTML, CSS, and how the Web works; and more.
Our goal is to encourage kids to develop their interests in all areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through mentoring and hands-on learning with cool projects, interesting demos, and fascinating presentations by other kids and local professionals. We especially want to encourage girls and kids from other underrepresented groups to get involved with learning programming and exploring STEM careers.
Our plan is to hold a workshop roughly once a month, and special events as appropriate; it is a great way to meet other kids with technology interests. This group is run by volunteers; we need programming mentors, so if you have programming experience, especially in Java, please volunteer!
Note that all kids must be accompanied by an adult over 18 or they won't be permitted to join the meeting.
