I'm really happy to have you around! Are you excited to participate in the first meetup of this group? I am and can't wait to meet you.. According Wikipedia , September 28 is a Swiss national coffee day. I don't think there is better chance to kick off our activities.
Guys from BBC coffee were so kind to offer place and their time to make this day special. They will keep open just for us and introduce us to speciality coffee during COFFEE CUPPING!
Coffee cupping (coffee tasting) is the practice of observing the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee. A standard coffee cupping procedure involves deeply sniffing the coffee, then loudly slurping the coffee so it spreads to the back of the tongue. The coffee taster attempts to measure aspects of the coffee's taste, specifically the body (the texture or mouthfeel, such as oiliness), sweetness (the perceived sweetness at the sides of the tongue), acidity (a sharp and tangy feeling at the tip of the tongue, like when biting into an orange), flavour (the characters in the cup), and aftertaste.
Let's meet, taste great coffee (expect to try 3 - 5 different coffee beens from various regions) and get to know each other. More information is coming ...
1) Cupping protocol - first, we will be introduced to the process of cupping that will ensure pleasant coffee tasting for all of us.
2) Blind tasting - then, we will try different coffee (secret choice) that goes from the cheap ones to the most exclusive coffee you can taste.
3) Coffee talk and "after-cupping-party" - after we enjoy coffee we can continue chatting and moreimportantly plan our next activities.
P.S. Bring your coffee beans if you would like to add them to cupping or taste them with others afterward. I will probably bring beans from Kenya and Ethiopia roasted by Doubleshot company - great Czech roasters.
