Coffee & Code Message Board › An Interesting Project!
My apologies for the email blast, but one of our members has an interesting project he would like to work on but he would need a few smart developers/tinkerers to help him out.
Tom wants to create a solution/prototype using Google hangouts for those with visual and physical disabilities. The idea would be to create a remote (actual hardware? mobile phone?) to interface with a computer hooked-up to a TV. The computer (Raspberry PI?) would utilize the Google Hangouts API to create a simplified interface (which technology do we use to build this? Web technology with a browser in kiosk mode? Python?). Tom would like to keep the actual computer part as hands-free as possible, so it would be interesting to try and build some hardware that, when say a cable box or DvD players starts to output a signal, the HDMI switches to one of those by default and, when they're off, the hardware switches back to the computer's video signal.
Does this sound like something anyone would like to work on? Tom will be attending Coffee and Code here-in and would love to have a meeting with anyone that's interested. Feel free to email Tom directly if you have any questions:
Happy coding everyone!
