Hello fellow co-workers
Communication is important in any relationship and our group is no exception. We've had a couple road bumps in the past couple weeks because of difficulty in communicating so I'd like to clear some things up so we can get back to the amazing group we're known for being.
1. We had an incident last Tuesday, 7/24, where some members didn't like the meetup location and chose to meet at a different location. This caused numerous issues, including potentially losing a member of our group. I would like to ask that this not occur again.
If you are not pleased with the location chosen, please communicate to a member of the leadership team (me, Mel, Michelle Kelleher, Nagesh, and Elaine Boyd) and we will determine a solution that's in the best interest of the group. If you want to collaborate with someone or invite people for a get together, that's great, but please do not coordinate your own sidebar co-working group at the same time a scheduled one is being held. This is disrespectful to the efforts of the leadership team, confusing for the members, and disruptive to the cohesion of our group.
2. We had an issue where people didn't RSVP and/or showed up late to a meetup and the host that day had assumed nobody was coming and had already left. This caused confusion. I have asked all members of the leadership team to commit to staying the entire time for a scheduled event and to always ensure there is a sign available so that our group can be identified. However, it would be helpful, if you could, to keep your RSVP updated appropriately. Showing up when you want is fine but please let us know - especially if the RSVP count is low.
This group was formed for "people who work at home or by themselves who are looking for the synergy and positive energy that comes from creating social connections with other people while being productive." We've enjoyed networking and collaborating, while exploring many of San Diego's locally owned coffee shops and I look forward to even more.
Your Fearless Leader :-)
P.S. All responses to this email will go directly to me, not the entire group, so feel free to express yourself accordingly. My proverbial door is always open.
