“ CHWG is not a school, not a competition. It is both stimulating and challenging. At my first meeting, I felt intimidated-- I heard a lot of quality work. But I remembered, it's for all writers of any level, so as a "listener" I tried to contribute truthful comments, because as a "words or wordy" person", even in genres I don't like at all, I could hear alliterations, similes, double entendres, foreign words I usually knew that just "fit" better than an English or American expression, humor, even the fun of play in fantasy pieces. I think attending CHWG is about 7, 8, 10 times better than reading a book--proportional to the number of people there. So if you're not there, you're missing something. One other thing, CHWG is WAY BETTER than school or classes!! ”
— BEA G. on Jan 19, 2016.
“ As a professional writer with 4 book deals on the go, I want real, honest feedback in a caring, supportive atmosphere. This is the place where you can connect and meet other people who write in whatever genre you are passionate about. Meet other writers face to face. If you get a chance to meet the founder, Christine Marie Bryant, she's a force, a fellow-creative, and an angel to writers! ”
— Elaine A. on Jan 13, 2016.
“ For years people have been telling me I need to write a book. I have found in CHWG a place and people who both motivate and inspire me. Rather than just hearing I should do this, I am being guided and taught SO much. People write for many different reasons, but no matter the reason CHWG is a valuable tool. If you've ever wanted to write...you should be here. ”
— Lisa K. on Jan 5, 2016.

I love it! ”

“ This group is excellent. I have encountered a wide variety of people who often offer astute critiques of my work. I have heard many different kinds of stories, giving me the opportunity both to give advice to others, and see how other skilled writers ply their craft. I can honestly say that I am a much better writer due to the time spent here. And more, I found a group of people who are warm, inviting, and accepting. So even if I were to go just to listen, I would have the company of friendly, respectful, sometimes eccentric, but always charming individuals. This group is a wonderful experience for any writer, or any person that simply enjoys listening to varied and interesting tales. ”

“ Joining Coffee House Writer's Group was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is full of strong writers which provides for excellent networking opportunity but it is also full of good people and wonderful friends. Christine Bryant is one of the kindest and most accepting people I've ever met. And she strives for CHWG to be a place where people can grow and learn in a positive environment. There are plenty of writer's groups out there that will rip your work to pieces and leave you in tears. But the people in CHWG have learned how to encourage each other while still gently offering growth and critiques and I've seen some incredible pieces of work find publication as a result. How do I feel about CHWG? I couldn't leave if you paid me. ”

Make sure to bring your laptop/iPad...(wish I had...rookie mistake). ”
— Dean S. on Nov 18, 2011.
“ It was my first time reading in front of a group of total strangers so I was really nervous. But the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. At the same time, they gave me honest feedback which is equally important. The thing that surprised me the most was the recognition of fine details in everyone's work. Mistakes that I would have never picked up on were brought out and in the end, thorough critiques like this make us all better writers. I feel challenged in a positive way to stay sharp as a writer and implement their advice into the projects I'm working on now. I appreciate them all. ”
