Cofounders Wanted Meetup - Spring 2011

Following on the heels of successful Co-Founders Meetups in Silicon Valley and Austin, Houston is launching its own Co-Founders Wanted event.

We will be following the great meeting template of the other groups: a big party with tons of networking, and in the middle we will have 10 speaking slots (3 minutes each) for early startups looking for co-founders.

Please read the pitch rules from the Silicon Valley group for the basic details if you have a startup in mind and are looking for a co-founder.  Be sure to send your inquiries and slides to the organizer for this Houston meetup.

Schedule: doors open at 6:30pm, presentations  run from 7:15 until 8:00pm, then more networking until Microsoft shooes us away sometime after 9:00pm.

We will be supplying a great spread of food and drink, so come on out and meet other entrepreneurial minded folks in Houston!  This is definitely not a monthly event.  We expect to host these parties a few times a year, so be sure to make our kickoff event this spring.

I met a lot of people, and saw some very interesting pitches. Overall the meetup was great. The only aspect of the meetup I didn't care for was the two product / service plugs. The automotive additive and CFO service pitches were out of place. The qualification for doing a pitch should be that you're looking for a co-founder (hence the name of the meetup).

It was an excellent forum for meeting new contacts and exchanging ideas. The crowd was very supportive for the people who pitched their ideas for startups and there was a lot of opportunities to get in touch with enterpreneurs who might be looking for good helpers. Way to go, community builders!

A very good meeting as it was nice to see 50 people there with similar interests.

Good first meeting - definitely need to build on this as more of this type of MeetUps will help attract better pitches and more refined business concepts.

I would like to suggest that those who want to pitch could be provided an opportunity to get some presentation training a week before the next MeetUp. I may be able to assist with this.

Adam and Lester did a great job of hosting the event.

I like it very much. I hope to meet everyone soon. But I also hope there is a link for the fonders and post idea one line so founder can see the ideas.

This was an interesting and well organized event. As a developer, I would highly recommend it to anyone serious about starting a company in Houston.

I'd like to have a bit more time for mingling. 1.25 hrs before and after would do.

Just got back to Houston, wish I had made it back soon enough to attend. Looking forward to the next event. Please let us know when the next one will be asap!

I'm also planning to bring my audio gear and kickoff the "beta test" of an idea for a podcast here in Houston called ... "Founders Houston" to mirror my Founders Talk podcast on 5by5, but focused on Houston. I want to get to know Houston starters much better and what better way than to co-run an event like this and get out there and talk to folks!

No need to bring food. We'll also be serving drinks to those of age (21+). 3 minutes pitches need to showcase you, your idea and how and why folks should care and how they can be a part of it. Specifically, if you are looking for a "CoFounder", you'll want to capture that type of person's attention.

    I'm pitching as well!

Do I need to bring some food tomorrow? Can I bring a friend ? What do I need to talk in 3 minutes slot ?

There's no cost to attend now. Since we are still getting a following, we decided to drop the fee to attend and rock this one for free to the attendees. :) Be sure to thank Lester for investing in your happiness.
