I'm a Cohousing Coach and Community Organizer, living in Berkeley, CA
I wrote about it while earning my Masters/PhD in City & Regional Planning; now I live in it and led the national Cohousing Association research efforts.
I live at Berkeley (CA) cohousing and have visited most New England cohousing neighborhoods
I'm always eager to help more people connect to community.
Please call me at [masked]. Cannot access my gmail. Need address of sr. women's meeting tonight.
Hi Betsy and thank you. :) You are a wonderful person who has been a joy to meet.
Hi- I put out a message on BASappho looking for lesbians
over 55 looking at meeting in Re to co-living and cohousing. Money can be a big issue for these women. Hence I have become interested in the idea of little houses. Has this come up in these groups. I know quite a bit about co-housing and have visited then up and down the coast I see all this as just a beginning to much needed solutions to land use, community, etc.
Hi Betsy: Welcome to our group. Looking forward to collaborating with you and Raines...
Hello. Myself and a few friends are wanting to co own together and we are wondering if you or anyone can recommend a Real Estate attorney. Thanks so much!
Hello! I live in St. Louis, MO and I will be in the Bay Area for all of November. My hope is to visit various co-housing communities that are open to new members as I am considering moving to the Bay Area permanently. How would you recommend I go about this? Is there a list of all co-housing communities that I could contact individually? Or would you suggest posting on Meetup? What an incredible resource your Meetup site is! Thank you so much for any advice you may be able to offer.
thank you for all your help betsy :-)
Oh wow Betsy that's cool to know that a fellow DCRP'er is responsible for this community. I'll definitely look into the 'member discussion forum section.' Since I'm not looking to find a place until late August, though, is there a specific method you'd recommend to go about searching? Is it best to just post that I am seeking a room or might I just have to wait a few months until my move-in date is closer?
Also, thanks for reaching out : )
Thanks for the welcome. I live in the N St Cohousing community in Davis and I love it. Very sad to have to leave, but my partner works in SF so Davis just doesn't make sense for us. I would love any leads on any cohousing openings in the east bay - I love living in cohousing and would love to find something similar. Looking forward to getting connected with the east bay cohousing community!
Hi Betsy, We made it here and we will be renting in Lafayette. We would love to come to dinner at Berkeley coho anytime after we get settled in a couple of weeks. Earlier this summer we spent a week at Pleasant Hill cohousing. That is such a nice community, we loved it. It will be fun sharing cohousing stories too. Virginia, Odysseus and Jaiya
