Pendragon: King Uther

  • Jan 24, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This year is 487 and King Uther Pendragon is hosting his Christmas Court at Sarum where the history of Logres and Britain will be forged with a gift from Merlin the Magician. The PC will be knights and ladies from across Logres, there will be political intrigue, adventure, and more than a little danger. PCs from previous sessions are of course welcome but this represents a new start of the Great Pendragon Campaign as it takes a broader perspective. Thus ideal time for new players!

Also a correction on session recap - it was Sir Haamar not Sir Gunthar who is to marry Countess Anne. The names aren't even close!

Great session all around yesterday. My compliments to Kirk for organizing such a fun politic-y kind of game. It was the most fun I've had at one of these meet-ups yet (and that's saying something)

Great RPG! I loved how it felt like we were all at royal court. All of us had were given our own political agendas, and the handouts really helped put us in character. Since all characters were at the same place, any eavesdropped conversations were fair game!

I think it would have been more helpful if a map was drawn on the whiteboard instead, highlighting where regions of interest were (and possibly write the characters from that region). I tried to talk to characters based on their homeland, although I guess it worked out in the end as my fiancee is going to kick ass next game in my favor (I think...)! Huzzah!

As you wish, my lady :)

Very good point on the map. That is something I will rectify next time with a better map perhaps using a whiteboard. Any other suggestions or critiques - this was an experiment so definitely need feedback to get this right.

I had a great time with this session; it felt much more like LARP than tabletop with fantastic interactions as we all pursued behind-the-scenes negotiations and politicking. Rounded off with quite the climatic challenge!

Running late! I'm on my way now, so hopefully I'll be there in about 10 minutes or so.

I got off work late than I would have liked, so I'm running behind. I'll be there in about twenty minutes. Sorry for the delay

    We have right now:
"Sir Cynon" (Bradley) and "Lady Kiah" (Sari) from Salisbury County.
We have "Baroness Melior" (Michelle) from Marlboro/Uffington.
We have "Sir Rhodrhi" (Richard) a household knight in service to Prince Madoc.
We have "Lady Anne" (Nina) the heiress to the troubled lands of Caercolun.
We have "Sir Haamar" (John) a loyal knight of Duke Ulfius.
An unnamed pauper knight who may or may not show up this Friday. Here are a few more concrete options for the players remaining:
    1. A knight in service to Baron Tomas who has lands across the kingdom and is very politically involved.
    2. A knight who holds a manor for a bishop who is his liege, the bishop is a vassal of King Uther.
    3. A knight who serves the mentally unhinged Duke Alvard of Clarence.
    4. A knight who serves Earl Tegfan of Jagent who is caught between his loyalty to the rebellious Duke Gorlois and King Uther.
    5. A knight who serves the ever reliable Earl Gilbert of Hertford County.

Am I an heiress or a knight? Or both? I guess it's too late now, but I was thinking my character to be
      1. slightly desperate (for the happiness and freedom of her people),
      2. slightly vengeful (towards the Saxons who killed her lesser lord and destroying my duchy) ,
      3. Valiant

Okay at this point I am closing RSVPs for this meetup. If anyone not signed up wishes to join they can message me but will be playing a sidekick to one of the characters already identified.

Frank is out but his pauper knight Sir Cynwrig has a name, adjectives, and other details. It should be an inspiration to the rest of you. :) By Thursday morning I'll be locking in characters for those who haven't provide a name and picked a background. Lots of complexity I need to manage and have to have a little time for this session.

Would anyone be able to give me a ride afterwards? I live 15 minutes west, off of Randolph Rd. Is anyone going in that direction? Thanks!

I'm in, so I can give you a ride

We have Lady Kiah and Sir Cynon who will represent Salisbury. We have Baroness Melior who will represent Uffington/Marlborough. We have a pauper knight who is seeking a lord. So for additional options:
    1) Knight loyal to Prince Madoc, the son of King Uther.
    2) Knight from Caercolun, overrun by Saxons, who has been sent to get the King to send aid.
    3) Knight loyal to Duke Ulfius, King Uther's most favored ally.
    4) Knight from a disloyal Duke (either Clarence [a little disloyal and out of favor], Lindsey [a little disloyal for it is besieged], or Cornwall [very disloyal and hated by King for it]).
    5) Knight from lesser County come to advance himself and his liege.

This will be an epic-sized group and my goal is to try a few things different for lots of roleplaying. Should be a lot of fun…or at least a nice experiment. :)

We have Lady Kiah (Sari), possibly Sir Cynon (Bradley), but new players need new characters and this time I'm giving some choices: Nephew/Niece of the late Duke Lucius of Caercolun. Your lands are overrun by Saxons. Your father holds command of what remains of the Duke's army and has sent you to the Christmas Court to secure aid from King Uther before the east of Logres is lost. Knight/Lady loyal to Duke Ulfius of Silchester. Your lord is second only to King Uther and you have been sent to the Christmas Court to aid him in maintaining Silchester's position. Son/Daughter of the Earl of Hampshire has sent you to convince the King to aid your land versus the Saxons and to help secure an alliance with other lords perhaps through marriage. Your lands face raids from the Saxons but so far have held the line. Knight/Lady who is young and without lands or title due to the saxons but has come to the Christmas Court to secure a position for yourself and what remains of your family.
