Beginning Meditation class

Develop the skill of meditation to cope better with stress and move toward more happiness and peace.

For 4 Thursday evenings starting with Jan. 9th, we will work on mindfulness meditation, body scans, and walking meditation as techniques. By the end of the class participants will have established a daily practice.

Cost is a donation to The Lighthouse appropriate to what you can afford.

    This sounds amazing, but unfortunately I work on Thursday nights! I know it's early yet, but might there be plans for another course on a different night (later on, of course)?

    What do you suggest that we wear. I assume something loose fitting, but assumptions are, as always, assumptions.

      Specifically, the techniques I'm teaching are samadha (breath meditation for mindfulness), body scans and walking meditation. We will also discuss the concepts of mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion. Paying attention to the moment in mindfulness is a tool of Insight, but then "insight" can also be translated as "wisdom". We will not discuss Buddhism, but all these concepts are integral to Buddhism as well as other faiths.
