I'm the leader of the Colorado Bernese Mountain Dog Meetup & would like to invite the Canine Adventure Club to an upcoming camping event!
Last year I reserved a group campground at the Printer Boy campground near Turquoise Lake a few miles from Leadville. Unfortunately we got hit with a surprise rainshower that lasted all weekend. So... We're up for another try!
To help off-set the cost of the reservation, we will be charging a small amount per tent site.. :)
There is water at the site, as well as some picnic tables (Most likely the fire ban will still be in effect - so we will have to be creative about what we bring to eat). The bathrooms are a short (3 min) walk away. The bathrooms are nice (not outhouses), but have no shower facilities.
Please bring food for you and your dog - and feel free to bring stuff to share.
Bring WARM clothes and more blankets/sleeping bags than you think you will need - even though it's still summer, Leadville is 10,000+ in elevation and nights are chilly. :) Also - if you do trailer camping, there is room for 1-2.
It's a beautiful area and is a short drive to the lake. Dogs *should* be on leash. :) If you have a long no-tangle leash - or one on a stake, it would be good for keeping the dogs in the camping site.
Please contact Buffy Snider if you have any questions.
