An evening of Social Media and Blogging will be an Interactive Instructional Event. CMC Trip Leaders Clare Reda and Erin Thompson will guide participants through the process of blogging and social networking. Roughly an hour will be spent on each of the topics listed below. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring laptops, mac or pc are okay! Rick Casey and Wayne Densmore will be on hand to help with teachable moments!
1. How to set up an account on a blog, how to write a blog, and some tips about posting pictures. (Mainly, how to link to another site using html code). I will go over these topics, focusing on the Boulder Compass Blog as an example for the audience. People will get the experience of setting up their accounts, posting an entry, watching me do a live edit, and seeing it get published. I may also talk about some valuable reference sites for folks planning trips or researching climbs (mtnproject, summitpost, 14'ers, CAIC, etc.).
2. How to use social networking such as Facebook for sharing information about trips. Erin will talk about posting pictures to various sites, linking or joining Facebook groups, posting notes on other people's pages etc. She is going to spend about an hour talking about this and answering questions.
