Each year I invite students & the public to join my uke group. We choose music aimed at the general public. Members learn to read music from the staff & tab too. They learn chords, chord progressions & scales in all 12 keys. Music parts are grouped by instrument such as: baritone, soprano, concert and tenor ukes. The melody is shared so that each instrument type plays lead sometimes during each (live performance) set. Exceptional players get to do solos with only me playing backup on either guitar or ukulele. The music is arranged using Finale music software. A lifetime performing musician & teacher, my music career began with a ukulele at age 4. It seems everyone is playing uke these days with the new revial and interest in this tuneful instrument over the past decade, thanks to people like Jim Beloff. This group meets the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at Roper Music in downtown Grand Junction, CO. It is open to the public.
